The Andrews family came to us to help launch an all new, super-luxury wine brand, sourced exclusively from their vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills. Their goal was to showcase the very best their land can produce by creating wines that can stand alongside Washington’s most iconic and sought-after brands. The success of this wine brand also has the potential to affirm and elevate their status as a premier grower.
This was their opportunity to express their terroir as only they know it. The fruit is extremely high quality, and their land is unique within the Horse Heaven Hills AVA, but the real difference is the people. They run their business with a truly “uncommon standard.” Meticulous care in every detail, excellence in every step. But they are not bound by tradition. They readily embrace new innovations, because their focus is on doing the best they can, not just what’s been done before.
For us, this was a rare opportunity to develop an iconic brand from the ground up. While this is a luxury wine, it’s not about tuxedos and tiaras—this is a hands-in-the dirt brand. Their story is about intentional choices, bold vision, and a deep connection to place and craft. Every detail mattered. We started with the name—Trothe—an old word evoking truth and solemn commitment. From there, we built out a visual identity and communication platform that elevates the unique elements of the land, the team, and the wine they produce. We designed a packaging system that is restrained and subtle, yet full of meaning and thoughtful detail.
Our partnership also included art directing a photo/video shoot on the property, designing brand collateral and launch materials, and developing an elegantly simple website and ecommerce platform. We are thrilled to see this truly beautiful brand come to life, and to continue our partnership with the wonderful people behind it. The inaugural vintage of Trothe was released in September of 2021.
Trothe wines are sourced exclusively from Andrews Family Vineyards in the Horse Heaven Hills. This is ground our great-grandfather broke from sagebrush, ground we have farmed for generations, ground we know. Our faith in this land runs deep, and we trust that if we hold our work to uncommon standards, we will produce uncommon results.
We walk these rows every day, weighing the wisdom of experience against the unique demands of each season. When the land speaks, we listen, because the needs of each vine are more important than egos or routines.
